‘E.T.’: 30 YEARS LATER

The movie industry has changed a lot over the years. These days, even the biggest movies will have a few good weeks, then fade away as the next big thing hits theaters. In fact, it’s been over a decade since any movie spent 10 consecutive weeks in the Top 5 at the box office. One film that stands out from the rest is the 1982 film, “E.T.” The accomplishments of E.T. were spectacular – it spent 27 weeks in a row in the Top 5, 16 of those at Number 1. And even though it was released at a time when movie tickets cost less than 3 bucks a piece, it’s still number one on the all-time list of top-grossing movies.
